OCR for Bengali, Hindi, Arabic and English PDFs

Practical OCR workflow for multilingual scans, language selection, review and privacy.

Does OCR guarantee accurate Bengali, Hindi or Arabic text?

No. OCR accuracy varies with print quality, script shaping, fonts, scan resolution and the correct recognition language.

Prepare the scan

A flat, well-lit scan with readable contrast generally improves recognition. Straighten rotated pages and avoid heavy JPEG artifacts before starting OCR.

Select the correct language

Our server engine includes Tesseract models for English, Bengali, Hindi and Arabic. A mixed-language page may require multiple language selections or a careful second pass.

Evaluate the output, not only the download

Compare names, dates, amounts, diacritics and punctuation against the original. Arabic right-to-left ordering and Indic conjuncts can be difficult; never accept OCR blindly for legal or financial records.

Protect private scans

OCR here uses a bounded private server engine with explicit upload consent and short-lived per-job files. Browser OCR and server OCR have different privacy guarantees.

Questions and answers

Can OCR read handwriting?

Results for handwriting are much less reliable than clear printed text.

Will OCR preserve the page layout?

Searchable PDF overlays and text exports can differ; verify each workflow’s stated output format.
